Definition & calculation
Numerator: Number of survivors of sexual violence who presented for and received clinical care within 72 hours of the incident
Denominator: Total number of survivors of sexual violence who accessed clinical care during the reporting period
Among survivors of sexual violence accessing clinical care, calculate the share who presented within the 72-hour window relevant for PEP and time-sensitive care.
Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100
Means of verification
Health facility register, GBV case management records (anonymized/aggregated)
Interpretation
Direction: Higher is better
Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)
Guidance & common pitfalls
The 72-hour window is critical for HIV PEP (and 120 hours for emergency contraception); measures timeliness of presentation among those reached, not overall coverage, so a low rate points to awareness or access barriers. Handle all data with strict confidentiality.
