Indicator

Percentage of protection service users who report being treated with respect and dignity by staff

Definition & calculation

Numerator: Number of surveyed service users who report they were treated with respect and dignity during service provision

Denominator: Total number of protection service users surveyed

Survey a sample of service users after service receipt and calculate the share reporting respectful, dignified treatment out of all respondents.

Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Means of verification

Post-service satisfaction survey, exit interviews, feedback mechanism data

Interpretation

Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)

Guidance & common pitfalls

Collect feedback through a channel independent of the service provider to reduce courtesy bias; use as an accountability-to-affected-populations and service-quality measure.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
