Indicator

% of assisted households reporting they feel secure from the threat of forced eviction from the land or shelter they occupy

Definition & calculation

Numerator: Number of surveyed assisted households reporting they feel secure from the threat of forced eviction over the coming reference period (e.g. 6 months)

Denominator: Total number of assisted households surveyed

Divide the number of surveyed households reporting they feel secure from forced eviction by the total number of households surveyed, multiplied by 100.

Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Means of verification

Outcome / post-distribution monitoring household survey

Interpretation

Direction: Higher is better

Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)

Guidance & common pitfalls

Measures perceived (subjective) tenure security, which complements but is distinct from holding a documented tenure arrangement: households can hold papers yet still fear eviction, or feel secure without them. Use to capture protection risk in HLP-sensitive contexts. Sex disaggregation refers to the head of household.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
