Denominator: Total number of site residents surveyed
From a representative resident survey, divide respondents who report feeling safe moving around the site and using communal facilities by all respondents and multiply by 100; disaggregate by sex, age and disability to reveal differential risk.
Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Guidance & common pitfalls
Safety perception commonly differs sharply by sex and age, particularly around WASH facilities and at night; always disaggregate and, where safe, triangulate with safety audits. This is distinct from complaint-mechanism or overall-satisfaction indicators.
