Indicator

% of supported children transitioning into or reintegrating into the formal/national education system

Definition & calculation

Numerator: Number of supported children (e.g. from non-formal, accelerated or catch-up programmes) who enrol in and are retained by the formal/national education system at the follow-up point

Denominator: Total number of supported children eligible for transition to the formal/national education system

Track eligible supported children over time and calculate the percentage who enrol in and are retained by the formal/national system at the follow-up point.

Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Means of verification

Formal school enrolment records, certification/examination records, longitudinal tracking of learners

Interpretation

Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)

Guidance & common pitfalls

A longer-term integration outcome requiring follow-up beyond the programme cycle. Confirm both enrolment and retention in the formal system, and account for accreditation/certification barriers that can block transition even when children are ready.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
