Definition & calculation

Numerator: Number of surveyed assisted people who can correctly identify at least one available channel to give feedback or make a complaint

Denominator: Total number of assisted people sampled and responding

Divide the number of respondents able to name a functioning feedback/complaint channel by the total sampled, expressed as a percentage.

Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Means of verification

Post-distribution monitoring, accountability survey, feedback mechanism records

Interpretation

Direction: Higher is better

Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)

Guidance & common pitfalls

Awareness is a precondition for accountability but not sufficient; pair it with data on whether channels are used, safe and responsive, and check that awareness is equitable across sex, age and disability groups. Aligned with CHS accountability commitments.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
