Definition & calculation
Numerator: Difference between endline and baseline average yield (per hectare or per unit area) for the target crop among supported households
Denominator: Baseline average yield for the same crop and households
Compare average yield per unit area for the target crop between baseline and endline for the same population, expressing the difference as a percentage of baseline.
Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100
Means of verification
Crop production survey, crop-cut measurement, farmer recall records
Interpretation
Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)
Guidance & common pitfalls
Control for confounders such as rainfall, pests and area planted by comparing like seasons and, where possible, a comparison group; crop-cut methods are more reliable than farmer recall but costlier. Aligned with Food Security Cluster agriculture guidance.
