Definition & calculation
Numerator: Number of targeted farmers observed or reporting adoption of at least the defined minimum set of promoted practices
Denominator: Total number of targeted farmers trained/supported and sampled
Divide the number of supported farmers applying the agreed practices by the total supported and sampled, based on self-report validated by field observation where feasible.
Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Guidance & common pitfalls
Define 'improved practice' and the minimum adoption threshold in advance (which practices, how many); this is a behaviour-change indicator, so measure after enough time has passed for adoption within a cropping cycle. Aligned with Food Security Cluster and Sphere agriculture guidance.
