Indicator

Definition & calculation

Numerator: Number of surveyed beneficiaries reporting satisfaction with the quality, quantity and relevance of WASH services received

Denominator: Total number of beneficiaries surveyed

Survey a representative sample of beneficiaries and calculate the proportion expressing satisfaction against agreed dimensions such as quality, timeliness and appropriateness.

Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Means of verification

Post-distribution monitoring, beneficiary satisfaction survey, focus group discussions

Interpretation

Direction: Higher is better

Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)

Guidance & common pitfalls

Disaggregate to detect exclusion of specific groups and pair with open feedback; high aggregate satisfaction can mask dissatisfaction among marginalised users.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
