Definition & calculation
Numerator: Number of supported water points found fully functional and delivering water at time of assessment
Denominator: Total number of supported water points assessed
Physically verify a sample of supported water points and calculate the proportion delivering water to standard at the time of assessment.
Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100
Means of verification
Water point functionality survey, spot checks, operator/committee records
Interpretation
Direction: Higher is better
Typical reporting frequency: Monthly or quarterly
Guidance & common pitfalls
A sustainability/service-continuity proxy at output level; distinguish fully functional from partially functional and record downtime and repair status to interpret trends.
This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
