Indicator

% of children aged 6-59 months exited from moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) treatment who recovered

Definition & calculation

Numerator: Number of children with MAM discharged as recovered (met the supplementary feeding programme recovery/discharge criteria) during the reporting period

Denominator: Total number of children with MAM who exited the supplementary feeding programme during the reporting period (recovered + died + defaulted + non-recovered)

Divide children discharged as recovered from MAM treatment by all MAM exits (recovered, died, defaulted, non-recovered) in the same reporting period, expressed as a percentage.

Formula: (Numerator ÷ Denominator) × 100

Means of verification

Supplementary feeding programme (SFP/TSFP) registers and IMAM/CMAM monitoring database

Interpretation

Direction: Higher is better

Typical reporting frequency: Baseline, midline and endline (or annual)

Guidance & common pitfalls

Report within the full performance basket that sums to 100%; the Sphere reference for recovery in supplementary feeding is >75%. Treat children referred to SAM/inpatient care as transfers rather than counting them as non-recoveries.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
