Indicator

Number of people provided with access to a safe water source through the intervention

Definition & calculation

Sum the number of individuals served by newly constructed, rehabilitated or supported water points, applying an agreed maximum users-per-source ratio to avoid over-counting.

Means of verification

Distribution and construction records, beneficiary registration, water point inventories

Interpretation

Direction: Higher is better

Typical reporting frequency: Monthly or quarterly

Guidance & common pitfalls

Count people served, not water points; deduplicate across multiple sources and reconcile design capacity against actual users to prevent inflation.

This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
