Definition & calculation
Count new SAM admissions from OTP and SC registers over the reporting period, deduplicating internal transfers between sites to avoid double-counting.
Means of verification
Outpatient therapeutic programme (OTP) and stabilisation centre (SC) admission registers and CMAM/IMAM database
Interpretation
Typical reporting frequency: Monthly or quarterly
Guidance & common pitfalls
Count only new admissions, excluding transfers-in and readmissions, using the SAM case definition (weight-for-height z-score < -3, MUAC < 115 mm, and/or bilateral pitting oedema); confirm the reported age band matches the programme target population.
This library is a curated reference to adapt, aligned generically with recognised humanitarian frameworks (Sphere, cluster registries, IASC, CHS and others). It is not an official indicator registry — always use the exact indicator definitions your donor or cluster requires.
