Green Climate Fund — Readiness and Preparatory Support

Green Climate Fund (GCF)

Capacity and institutional support funding, accessed through your country's National Designated Authority.

Deadline: Rolling / variesGlobal

Overview

The Readiness Programme funds institutional capacity, governance and planning work that prepares countries and organizations to access climate finance.

Requests can be submitted at any time through 2027, with a final approval date of 31 March 2028.

How much

Up to USD 1 million per country per calendar year. Multi-year requests of up to USD 3 million over three years may be accepted, but no more than USD 1 million can be committed in any single year, and the proposal budget must sit within that annual cap for the year of approval.

How to access it

Readiness support is channelled through the country's National Designated Authority (NDA) or focal point. Organizations do not apply directly to GCF — you work with the NDA, which submits.

Funding is also available to strengthen Direct Access Entities, including candidate entities in advanced stages of accreditation.

Related route

Organizations with the fiduciary standards, environmental and social safeguards and gender capacity to manage climate finance directly can apply for GCF accreditation as an Accredited Entity. This is a long process, but it converts your organization from sub-recipient to direct applicant.

Always confirm eligibility, amounts and deadlines on the donor's own page before applying.
