Green Climate Fund — accreditation as a Direct Access Entity

Green Climate Fund (GCF)

Become an Accredited Entity and apply to GCF directly rather than through an intermediary.

Deadline: Rolling / variesGlobal

Overview

Accredited Entities are the organizations permitted to submit funding proposals to GCF. They can be public, private, non-governmental, sub-national, national, regional or international.

What it requires

  • Fiduciary standards — basic and specialized, depending on the size and type of funding sought
  • Environmental and social safeguards commensurate with risk category
  • Gender policy and demonstrated capacity to apply it

Why it is worth considering

National organizations accredited as Direct Access Entities apply to GCF on their own account rather than through an international intermediary. Readiness funding is available to support candidate entities through the process.

Practical note

Accreditation is measured in years, not months, and the fiduciary evidence requirements are substantial. Organizations with weak financial systems should treat systems work as the first step, not a parallel one.

Always confirm eligibility, amounts and deadlines on the donor's own page before applying.
