Overview
ECW is the global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises. It does not accept unsolicited grant applications.
How funding is actually allocated
- Multi-Year Resilience Programmes (MYRPs) — joint humanitarian and development education programming. Proposals are coordinated at country level and the decision on which organizations receive funds is made in-country, facilitated by a designated coordinating entity.
- First Emergency Response (FER) — rapid funding when a crisis suddenly occurs or escalates.
- Acceleration Facility — thematic, either directly selected or through a specific call for proposals.
What to do instead of applying
Engage the Education Cluster or Local Education Group in your country and identify the coordinating entity. That is where consortium composition is decided, and it is decided before any funding is announced.
How much
ECW does not publish grant ceilings. As an indication of scale, recent First Emergency Response grants have been announced in the US$2–2.5 million range per country, and Multi-Year Resilience Programme grants at US$6 million and above. These are observed awards, not published limits.
Always confirm eligibility, amounts and deadlines on the donor's own page before applying.
